Stone Central appointed to undertake stonemasonry repairs on Bolton Town Hall - Summer 2009

Following their undertaking of a detailed survey and report into the condition of the stonework earlier this year Stone Central (NW) Ltd have been appointed to carry out repairs and restoration required as part of a facelift programme to Bolton Town Hall. The survey of the Victorian Grade II listed building took just a little over 2 weeks to complete with the majority of the inspection being carried out using rope access by Stone Central (NW) Ltd IRATA qualified staff. Both the Architects Taylor Young and Bolton Council realised that utilising rope access would offer huge benefits to the project, primarily in the vast cost saving compared to having to erect scaffolding and also in the elimination of any disruption to both the public and the Town Hall staff. Stone Central (NW) Ltd Contracts Manager Steve Gerrard who was part of the survey team commented "The Town Hall has some wonderful architecture and the stonework is generally in excellent condition considering its age, the repair and restoration work that is required will ensure that it stays that way for the foreseeable future." Work is due to start in August 2009 with completion anticipated next year.
