The development of the new 6th form centre addition to the historic Bolton School. The new centre joins two separate areas of the school and creates a new learning environment for the 6th form pupils.
The new 6th form centre has created additional space for learning and relaxing for the pupils and features a new common room, IT suite, café, multi-use study spaces and outdoor areas. The sixth form centre complements the existing Grade II listed buildings that make up the original parts of the school, and the new glass-fronted, three-storey building offers a stark contrast to the existing Neo-Gothic façade and turrets.
Project Detail
Two-tiered glazed walkways link the sixth form centre to the Senior Girls’ Schools and Senior Boys’ Schools respectively.
Large windows within the building have created light and airy spaces inside with a view across landscaped outdoor areas, establishing a permanent link between the old and the new.
Stone Central were appointed to carry out the stonework on the new elliptical design building which largely consists of Cove red sandstone quarried in the UK. This choice of stone compliments the existing structures and allows for a clean, crisp finished look. The hand set cladding work was extensive and the finished project is a fantastic addition to the facilities
